Work and Life, Should There Really Be A Need For A Balance?

Monday 1st of May 2017, saw another workers day celebration in Nigeria,we decided to use all our social platforms to talk through how we are creatively working to deliver amazing service to our clients as well as balancing up with life.With the amount of hours most employees spend working,it is important for businesses to reduce the stress employees experience.

When they spend the majority of their hours on work-related activities and they start neglecting the other important aspects of their lives, stress and unhappiness result.This as well is bad for the company,as this reduces productivity and turns work to a huge chore or burden.

Work-life balance is a way employees split their time and energy between work and the other important aspects of their lives. Work-life balance is a daily effort to make time for other important things such as family, friends, spirituality, personal growth, self-care, and other personal activities, despite the demands of the workplace.

Tips on Balancing Work and Life

  1. Slowly build more activities into your schedule that are important to you e.g spending an hour per week on a new hobby or skill e.g sewing,photography. E.t.c
  2. Even during a stressful day, you can take 10 or 15 minutes to do something that will relax you. “Take a bath, read a book, go for a walk,listen to music,”Always make a little time for the things that make you happy.”
  3. Unplug: There are times when you should just shut your phone off and enjoy the moment e.g don’t text when you are on a date or during family time.
  4. Self Care: Its very important to take care of yourself.Taking time for exercise,prayer,eating well,sleep e.t.c are a very important part of caring for your physical,mental and spiritual well being.
  5. Know when to make calls and when to do administrative work to optimize your time at work.

With the advancement of technology,work has become much more mobile and no longer limited to the office or a physical building, workers can work remotely and virtually. Employees are no more limited to the confines of an office to get work done.This means work isn’t limited to a physical building,as employees can work from the go,communicate and collaborate using virtual tools.
